Getting started with Attendance Tracker
Attendance Tracker is a free app, made by a student, for keeping your own attendance record. Setup takes about a minute if your class's timetable is already in, or a few minutes if you're the first from your class.
1. Create an account
Open the sign-up page and enter your name, a username and a password (at least 6 characters). There's no email, so pick a password you'll remember. If you do forget it, you can message on WhatsApp to get it reset.
2. Pick your class
Choose your course, the year your batch joined, your current semester and your section.
- If someone from your class has already set up the timetable, you get a copy of it straight away and land on your dashboard. Done.
- If you're the first from your class, you have two options. The quickest is to send a photo of your timetable on WhatsApp and it gets added for you; then tap Continue again. Or you can build it yourself: add your subjects, the number of periods per day and what's in each slot. Classmates who join after you get your timetable automatically.
Your copy of the timetable is yours. If you change it later, it doesn't change anyone else's.
3. Set your semester dates
The start date is required. Adding the end date is optional but worth it: the app then shows how many class days are left and the best percentage you can still reach. You can change both in Settings.
4. Mark a day
On the dashboard, tap a date on the calendar. You'll see that day's periods from your timetable. For each one, tap:
- Present if you attended.
- Absent if you missed it.
- No class if it was cancelled or didn't happen. It won't count either way.
If the whole day was a holiday, switch the day to Holiday / No Class. If a period had a different subject than the timetable says, change it on that period. Then tap Save.
Most days, this takes about five seconds. Marking the same day, while you still remember, keeps the record accurate.
5. Read your dashboard
- Overall % across all your subjects.
- Each subject's %, and how many classes you can still miss in it while staying at 75%, or how many you need to attend to get back.
- If you miss tomorrow: what your percentage would be if you skipped the next class day.
- Unmarked days: a reminder of class days you haven't filled in yet.
You can download your full record as a CSV file from the dashboard at any time.
6. Add it to your home screen
It works like an app once it's on your home screen: one tap to open, and you stay signed in. Here's how on Android and iPhone.
Attendance Tracker is a personal record. It's not the college register and isn't connected to it. It's an independent project, not affiliated with RCM.
